Late into deadline day, Celtic finally wrapped up the signings of Dundee United duo Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven after lengthy transfer sagas.
Armstrong, 22, has impressed at Tannadice, especially last season where he racked up 11 goals and 11 assists in a real breakout season for the midfielder.
The deal to take him to Celtic Park was a long, drawn out affair as Celtic had bids rejected on deadline day before Sky Sports suggested that the Bhoys had ended their interest in signing him.
Yet late in the day, Celtic finally agreed a deal to sign Armstrong, and the midfielder revealed his delight at joining Ronny Deila's men after a real transfer saga in an interview with the Celtic official website.
"It’s a surreal feeling at the minute and there is a lot to take in. I’m really happy to be here. It was a great five-and-a-half years with Dundee United but this opportunity was too good to turn down," admitted Armstrong.
"Hopefully I can provide a bit of excitement and goals going forward. The fans probably know a bit about me but I would like to show them a bit more. I take each game as it comes and I will aim to get off to the best possible start here and do my best for the club," he added.
Armstrong is joined at Celtic Park by his Dundee United team mate Mackay-Steven, who has joined Celtic six months ahead of schedule.
The 24-year-old winger had signed a pre-contract agreement to join Celtic on a free transfer in the summer, but Celtic have managed to persuade Dundee United to sell him now.
Mackay-Steven knew he was signing for Celtic at some point, but told the Celtic official website that he can't wait to start after bringing the move forward to join the club immediately.
"It’s amazing to finally be here and for it all to be done and dusted," said Mackay-Steven. "It’s what I wanted and I’m happy to be here.
"The pre-contract happened a few weeks ago and I was delighted back then but I was unsure if it was going to be now or if I’d be joining in the summer, but to get it all done and dusted is great and I just can’t wait to start. I want to just play my first game here and everything is just a dream. I can’t wait to get started," he added.
