Rio Ferdinand’s prediction of transfer deadline day action

Queens Park Rangers star Rio Ferdinand, formerly of Manchester United, looks ahead to the transfer day action.

Queens Park Rangers defender Rio Ferdinand has predicted on social networking site Twitter that no deal over £10 million will happen today.

The former Manchester United centre-back made the comment this morning as the transfer deadline day action starts to heat up.

It is very tough to say what will and will not happen on transfer deadline day, especially in the Premier League, but the early signs are that Ferdinand’s prediction may not come true.

While the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and QPR are reported to be active today according to Goal.com and The Mirror, perhaps the biggest deal could be made by Chelsea.

The Premier League leaders are keen on signing Colombia international Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina today, according to ESPN.

Chelsea were reportedly expected to announce the signing of the winger for a transfer fee of £26.8 million, but the deal is being held up by Wolfsburg’s negotiation with the Blues over the signing of Andre Schurrle.

If the Cuadrado deal does go through, then Ferdinand’s prediction about deadline day would fall flat.
