Tottenham's Etienne Capoue will not be joining West Bromwich Albion despite talks between the two sides, according to SkySports.
The midfielder is down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, and despite the Baggies being in the market for a midfielder, it seems unlikely the Frenchman will be moving to play his football at The Hawthorns.
Their website reports: "Talks have now broken down between Spurs and West Bromwich Albion for France international holding midfielder Etienne Capoue."
The midfielder had been linked earlier in the day by SkySports with a deadline day move to Leicester City.
Capoue had been linked earlier in the transfer window with a move to Sevilla, referenced by Talksport.
Instead West Brom appear to have an alternative lined up, Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.
The Scotsman reports that the veteran central midfielder is on his way down the M6 from Manchester to undergo a medical at West Brom, having agreed terms over the last few hours.

Based on form this season, Capoue is clearly the superior option of the pair, but he can at least point to a settled run in the Tottenham team earlier in the season, unlike Fletcher who has been in and out of the United side.
If Tony Pulis wants a midfielder who knows the Premier League well, he is signing a solid player in Fletcher who can really benefit from the chance to play regularly.
With experience of Champions League campaigns, and as Manchester United's longest serving player, his effect on the other players in the dressing room with his mentality can be just as invaluable as what he can provide on the pitch.
