Roma have asked about the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur's Younes Kaboul, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman has completely fallen out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino's stewardship and Roma believe that Spurs could be open to allowing him to leave before the deadline passes.
What's the impact for Tottenham?
The departure of Kaboul would be widely welcomed by supporters of Tottenham, after his consistently poor performances this season.
The Frenchman was named captain at the start of the campaign, but he has failed to impress and it looks like his days at the club are numbered, whether he joins Roma or not.
Jan Vertonghen, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier and the aforementioned Chiriches are all ahead of him the pecking order at White Hart Lane and, therefore, a move is likely to be appealing to Kaboul, as well as the club.
If Kaboul does leave it will reduce Spurs's wage-bill considerably, and it could leave them with room to make a late addition.
