Report: PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali rejects Celtic move

Zakaria Bakkali

The talented wide man has been dubbed the new Eden Hazard by some.

Yesterday it was reported by the Daily Record that Celtic were keen on the signature of PSV Eindhoven star Zakaria Bakkali. The Belgian winger has been dubbed the 'new Hazard' in the past. The report claimed that Celtic were confident of signing the player for a fee in the region of £750,000.

But Celtic do not look set to get their hands on the player after all. SoccerNews.nl are reporting that Bakkali has rejected any move away from PSV in this transfer window. The talented Belgian is waiting for the summer to consider his options more carefully, as he is currently injured until the end of March.

Bakkali had an excellent start to his career in Holland, scoring a hat-trick in his second appearance for the club.

But in recent times he has barely featured for the club.

He has not played for PSV since April 2014 and a couple of months ago PSV youth director Art Langeler told FOX Sports that Bakkali's career at the Dutch Eredivisie leaders was 'over'.

Bakkali was frozen out of the team in October by Philipp Cocu, according to the Express, after numerous accounts of him attempting to leave the club.

But it looks as though he will be staying until the summer at least, at the detriment of Celtic's transfer plans.
