Newcastle United midfielder Gael Bigirimana is set to head out on loan to Rangers, according to the Daily Mirror.
Bigirimana has fallen out of favour at St. James' Park in the past two seasons and the club have set up a move to get him regular first-team football.
Although the standard is likely to drop in the Scottish Championship, the 21-year-old will be keen play at a competitive level and show that he still has the ability to make a success of himself at Newcastle.
Bigirimana actually made 25 first-team appearances back in the 2012/13 campaign, but he has played just one senior game since and his chances with the Magpies appear to be limited.
What's the impact for Rangers?
The addition of a player of Bigirimana's calibre should aid Rangers, as they look to close the gap on league leaders Hearts.
The Light Blues have been in dire form over the season so far, but they have not given up hope of securing promotion and Bigirimana should strengthen their push.
He is likely to step straight into their starting line-up and Kenny McDowall will be hoping that he shows no signs of rustiness, despite his lack of first-team action in recent times.
