Bolton Wanderers are set to unveil the signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan.
The Mail had reported a move was imminent, before the player confirmed a loan switch had been decided, updating fans via his Twitter page.
Happy to say I've signed for Bolton and can't wait to get going. Big thank you to the palace fans for there support much appreciated— barry bannan (@bazzabannan25) February 2, 2015
Scottish newspaper The Daily Record had reported earlier on deadline day that Bannan was a top target for SPL side Celtic, stating that the league leaders were considering a move.
Instead Bannan is set for a switch to Bolton, electing to play under former Celtic boss Neil Lennon in the Championship instead.
Bolton have lost just two of their last 10 games, and the addition of the midfielder gives them further strength in depth.
The 25-year-old Scotland international had made only two Premier League starts this season, plus five substitute appearances.
Bannan was previously a very highly rated prospect at Aston Villa, and choosing to drop down a division gives his season a new lease of life.
Bolton had attempted to sign Celtic midfielder Kris Commons this transfer window by The Mail, but their manager appears to have finally settled on an alternative.
