Aston Villa have made an enquiry to Liverpool over the possibility of signing Rickie Lambert, according to the Daily Mail.
Villa were expected do little, if any, business today, but their interest in Lambert suggests that there may be time for them to force through one more deal.
The Villans have already signed Carles Gil and Scott Sinclair this month, but they feel that more attacking additions are required to increase their goalscoring threat.
Villa have scored just 11 goals in the first 23 matches and Paul Lambert apparently feels that a new striker is the answer to their current problems.
Impact for Villa?
It may appease the club's fans somewhat to know that they are hoping to bring in a striker, however, there is no guarantee that Lambert will be a success at Villa Park.
Although the 32-year-old is a proven finisher, he has not played much football this season and when on the pitch he has looked short of quality.
Lambert has scored just three times in 28 games this campaign and will feel he needs to prove a point should Villa complete a transfer.
