With five defeats in the last six games, Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has unsurprisingly been sacked.
After a phenomenal start to the campaign, Pearce's men have drifted, and with just one win in the last ten games, rumours have been swirling for weeks suggesting that owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi would send Pearce packing.
That is now a reality, with the former Forest left back departing the City Ground again, having spent 12 years at the club as a player, becoming a Forest legend under Brian Clough.
With a 31.25% win percentage, Pearce's departure isn't a total surprise, but you would have expected a club hero to have been treated with more respect than Pearce has.
No sooner had the ink dried on Pearce's P45, Forest had appointed Dougie Freedman as their new manager - another ex-Forest player!
Freedman, 40, scored 23 goals in 83 games for Forest as a player, and arrives at the City Ground having been sacked as Bolton Wanderers boss back in October.
Fans have been reacting on Twitter ever since the announcement, with respect for Pearce - even if he wasn't a success as Forest manager - and a deflating feeling upon Freedman's return to the club, given that he won just 33.66% of his games as Bolton boss.
Sad to hear of Pearce departure from #nffc. Results made that inevitable. Stuart Pearce remains a Forest legend. Good luck for the future!— Barrie Wood (@torbayred) February 1, 2015
I stuck behind Psycho from start to finish and it's a shame it wasn't to be. I'll back Freedman now but not too confident I must admit #nffc— Matt Barratt (@Mattallica_) February 2, 2015
Pearce is and always will be a Legend. He's just isn't a very good manager. Didn't want Freedman but realistically who else is there? #nffc— Joe (@youngharrison92) February 2, 2015
Gutted it didn't work out for Pearce, he's just not cut out to be a manager. He'll always be a legend to me! #NFFC— Matt Davey (@MatttDavey) February 1, 2015
No manager will get the reception that pearce got week in week out, his relationship with the fans was something else, he'll be missed #nffc— Kyle Merryweather (@TheGingerKyle) February 1, 2015
Find it astounding that freedman has been brought in. His record is a carbon copy of pearce's #nffc— Aaron Smith (@AaronJTSmith) February 1, 2015
Still not sure SP should have been sacked but felt he was tactically inept. Have the same concerns about Dougie Freedman. #nffc— Stuart Hubbard (@stubbsbear) February 1, 2015
Freedman is Calderwood mark II. Both dour Scots with all the personality of a lamppost. #nffc— Hannah Dexter (@hannahforest) February 1, 2015
