Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko not ruling out Wolfsburg return

The Bosnian forward has confessed that he could potentially return to the Volkswagen Arena outfit in the future.

With the signing of Wilfried Bony, Edin Dzeko’s chances to play week-in, week-out at Manchester City have taken something of a blow.

The Bosnian striker has been a player that the Etihad Stadium side have been able to rely on over the years but still transfer rumours surrounding him seem like a regular occurrence.

Dzeko has admitted that he could well return to former club Wolfsburg in the future and would not rule out signing for the Volkswagen Arena outfit one day.

"A return to Wolfsburg? Never say never,” the eastern European hitman told Kicker.

“If the fans of Wolfsburg want to win back the championship, then they will need a striker who scores at least twenty goals a season.

“Although Bas Dost right now is doing very well and has earned the trust of the club.”

Dzeko was on Wolfsburg’s books for four years, scoring 66 goals in 111 Bundesliga games for the side. He has only started six Premier League games for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this term, largely due to injury concerns, and has netted only twice.

Dieter Hecking’s men are sitting second in the Bundesliga currently and beat reigning champions Bayern Munich 4-1 in their first game back after the winter break.

Wolfsburg are also expected to round off the signing of Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle today before the transfer window closes.
