Manchester City morning round-up: Lampard's message for Chelsea, Pellegrini lays out target

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini has told the Manchester Evening News what he feels his team will need to win the Premier League title.

The boss has suggested that the club will need to exceed their points tallies for their two recent Premier League crowns to retain the title.

He’s suggested that a figure of 90 points is what the side should be aiming for.

The Manchester Evening News has also quoted midfielder Frank Lampard as saying City will fight his old club Chelsea to the bitter end.

Lampard returned to Stamford Bridge as a City player for the first time in the club’s 1-1 draw against the league leaders over the weekend.

Lampard suggests the strength of City’s playing squad means they’ll be in with a shout heading into the closing weeks of the season.

The Independent has reported that Manchester City will have to wait a little longer for the return of Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony.

The pair featured in the Ivory Coast’s win against Algeria yesterday, which helped their country into the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

They won’t return until their country has either been put out of, or has won the competition.
