Leeds United midfielder Rudy Austin is going nowhere, according to his club.
Recent reports from Sky Sports claimed Leeds had accepted a £500,000 bid for the midfielder from Championship rivals Wigan Athletic. But the Whites’ official website has now published comments that have put that rumour firmly to bed.
The statement began: "Chairman Andrew Umbers and the club can confirm that midfielder Rodolph Austin is not for sale and will remain a Leeds United player beyond Monday’s 11pm transfer deadline.”
Austin has made 103 appearances for Leeds, including 22 this season, and given his recent performances for Neil Redfearn’s side the news will come as a huge boost for a team looking on the up after recent results.
Austin may not always perform to his full potential, but on his day he is a fantastic player and he will be key as Leeds look to climb further away from the relegation zone in the weeks and months ahead.
The statement went on to reveal that Austin wished to remain at the club, and that commitment will be welcome news for Redfearn and the fans.
