Tottenham Hotspur have tied their wonderful young striker to a long-term contract in North London.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has been speaking to the club's official website – and tweeting – following the announcement that he has agreed a new five-and-a-half-year deal at White Hart Lane.
The news was announced this morning and Kane swiftly took to Twitter to express his delight at the deal.
“Very happy to have signed my new contract at Spurs,” the front-man wrote. “Excited for the future ahead.”
That future looks extremely bright considering how much Kane has blossomed in recent times.
Tottenham fans may still be crying out for a world-class front-man but Kane’s form has eased that need considerably, despite the poor form of more experienced strikers Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor.
The duo have failed to replicate their best form in recent times but Kane has already netted 20 goals this season and he looks likely to add plenty more to that tally in the months ahead.
Kane may only be 21 but along with Christian Eriksen he has become a vital member of Tottenham’s side and his new deal is arguably the best possible business Mauricio Pochettino could have done on transfer deadline day.
Speaking to Spurs’ website shortly after the news was announced, Kane said, “This (contract) is another stepping stone and hopefully now I’ll push on from this and get even better.
“I’ll keep my feet on the ground and keep working hard for the team and for the club.”
Kane’s work ethic and humility are keys to his outstanding success and there is no reason why he cannot go on to become one of the best forwards in Tottenham’s illustrious history.
