Aaron Lennon has joined Everton from Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the rest of the season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has explained to the club’s official website why he decided to move for Aaron Lennon on transfer deadline day.

The Merseyside outfit have signed the England international winger on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for until the end of the season.

Lennon has struggled for playing time at Tottenham and is pretty much a squad player for the North London outfit, but Martinez is confident that the former Leeds United star will prove to be a success at Goodison Park.

"We all know what Aaron will bring to our squad with his experience and know-how, his involvement with England in two World Cups and the landmarks he has set in the Premier League," Martinez told Everton's website.

"At 27, Aaron will be a really important asset to our squad and he will represent a real boost in terms of attacking options from now to the end of the season. His pace and trickery will fit in well at Goodison.”

Lennon is not one of the best wingers in the Premier League, but he certainly has pace and is quite direct in his approach.

Having played in the English top flight for years, the England international could prove to be important for Everton as they try to climb up the table.

It will be interesting to see how much time Lennon takes in setting into the Everton team. Moving to a new club in the middle of the season is never easy, and it will be even tougher for the winger as the Toffees are struggling for points.
