Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has stressed Emmanuel Adebayor would be an important player for any team.
Stoke have been suggested as a potential club for Adebayor should Spurs be willing to do a deal and Begovic has lavished praise on the striker.
“Adebayor is a player of great quality. He’s a player who can help any team,” said Begovic.
“We’ve got a good bunch of guys here so I’m sure he would fit in really well. We’ll see what happens. We are all for signing anyone who can make us better.”
Mauricio Pochettino suggested that Adebayor may still have a future at Spurs through selecting him as captain for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Sheffield United.
However, he’s struggled to place pressure on Harry Kane, having scored just two goals in all competitions this season compared to Kane’s 20.
The problem Adebayor creates for Tottenham when he plays is that he takes Kane out of the line-up, unless Pochettino shows the guts to play them both together.
Adebayor is not the sort of striker who would drop off and let Kane play his usual game at the top of the team, forcing the England U21 man to drop deep to get possession where he’s arguably less effective.
If Adebayor does stay at the club, he has to try and make the most of any chance he gets from the manager because he could have arguably pushed much harder for a move to a club where he’s more likely to play week in, week out.
