Real Madrid are said to be looking to offload Fabio Coentrao.
The Portuguese left-back has had to settle for a place on the bench this season as Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti places his faith in Brazilian competitor Marcelo.
However, with the Red Devils fully equipped on the left-back front, according to the Daily Star, Los Blancos have instead offered him to top-four rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
“Arsenal and Liverpool have both been offered Real Madrid misfit Fabio Coentrao. Real value Coentrao at £25m, and even though it's understood he could be available for around half that figure, he is on big money at the Bernabeu. Coentrao has been told he is no longer in Real boss Carlo Ancelotti's plans and is looking for a way out,” the report claims.
It is said that the duo are unlikely to take Real up on their offer, and if the report is true it comes as little surprise given the respective clubs’ current situations.
The Gunners have just splashed the cash on Gabriel Paulista - who given his versatility could always be an option at left-back if needed – and a new defensive midfielder must surely be a top priority.
Brendan Rodgers’ men, on the other hand, are fairly overloaded in the full-back area and a potential Coentrao deal wouldn’t make much sense given Alberto Moreno’s standing in the first-team.
Nevertheless, stranger things have occurred in the past on the highly anticipated deadline day, so it could be a situation to keep an eye on over the next two days.
