Sunderland fans react on Twitter to Jermain Defoe’s performance against Burnley

Sunderland supporters take to Twitter to have their say on Jermain Defoe’s performance against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Sunderland returned to winning ways on Saturday when they got the better of Burnley 2-0 at home in the Premier League.

The Black Cats headed into the game at the Stadium of Light on the back of a goalless draw with Fulham at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Gus Poyet’s side went ahead against fellow relegation candidates Burnley after 20 minutes when Connor Wickham finished off a brilliant Sunderland attack with a header.

Then on 34 minutes, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe turned in Patrick van Aanholt's centre for his first goal for the Black Cats since his move from Toronto FC in the January transfer window.

Defoe’s overall performance against Burnley on Saturday was also encouraging. The 32-year-old England international had two shots, a pass accuracy of 61%, put in one cross, and attempted four take-ons.

After the match, Sunderland fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on Defoe’s performance against Burnley.
