Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the availability of Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, according to The Sun.
The British tabloid claims that North London outfit Tottenham have “asked Southampton about the England striker”, with the Saints able to get as much as £15 million if they sell him before the January transfer window slams shut on Monday.
Rodriguez blossomed under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton last season, scoring 15 goals and creating 20 chances in 33 Premier League appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 43%.
One suspects that the former Burnley star will take his game to a higher level if he was to play under the Argentine at Tottenham.
A serious knee injury has stopped the England international from playing this campaign, but if last campaign’s performances are anything to go by, then he certainly remains an important player for the Saints.
Rodriguez is still recovering from his injury and is not fit enough to play rightaway, which raises the question why Tottenham would pay £15m for him right now.
