Former Newcastle United attacker Peter Lovenkrands has taken to social networking site Twitter to praise Sammy Ameobi.
Ameobi was a key player for Newcastle against Hull City at the KC Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 22-year-old winger scored the Magpies’ second goal of the match, as John Carver’s side eased to a 3-0 win in Yorkshire. It was a brilliant goal, too, as the ball flew into the Hull net from distance.
Ameobi’s overall performance against the Tigers was also encouraging. Despite having a pass accuracy of just 66%, the youngster gave one key pass and attempted four dribbles.
France international attacking midfielder Remy Cabella was the best player for Newcastle against Hull, but Ameobi’s contribution cannot be undermined.
Indeed, after full time, former Denmark international Lovenkrands took to Twitter to congratulate the youngster on his “brilliant goal”.
Ameobi is enjoying a good season on a personal level and is showing the talent that he was always said to have had.
The winger has scored two goals and created 12 chances in 16 Premier League appearances so far this campaign, while having a pass accuracy of 67% and winning 47% of the duels.
There is still room for improvement for Ameobi, but performances like that against Hull are strong indicators that he will fulfil his potential.
