Paul Merson has backed Arsenal to win against Aston Villa in his Sky Sports prediction column.
North London outfit Arsenal will be looking to maintain their winning run when they face the Villans at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League today.
The Gunners have won their last four competitive matches and will be huge favourites to win against a Villa side who are just three points above the relegation zone in 16th.
Merson, a former Arsenal attacker, is confident of a 3-0 victory for Arsene Wenger’s side and wrote on Skysports.com: “I can’t see anything but an Arsenal win especially as they’ve just had two really good results and I look at Villa and don’t know where Villa are going to get another goal.
“I know they scored two against Bournemouth in the FA Cup but in the league I can’t see anything but another defeat for them. Guzan has been the only success for them this season, while a few other players have disappointed.”
Merson’s prediction will be backed by many and indeed has a very good chance of coming true.
Arsenal are on a roll and will be supremely confident of picking up all three points at the Emirates with ease.
Wenger’s side have looked defensively strong in the New Year, despite conceding twice against Brighton & Hove Albion away from home in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend.
Villa’s chances cannot be written off as manager Paul Lambert does have some good players who will be determined to step up their game against the Gunners.
However, a win for Villa in North London is unlikely. A draw perhaps, but only if Arsenal are not at their best and concede an early goal.
