Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen’s heroics against West Bromwich Albion left a lasting impression on Lord Sugar.
Denmark international Eriksen had yet another brilliant game for Spurs, scoring the opening goal in the 3-0 win at The Hawthorns.
The 22-year-old put North London outfit Tottenham in the lead after just six minutes when he curled in a sumptuous free kick.
It was one of Eriksen’s best goals for Spurs and left former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar singing his praises.
It was the former Ajax star’s second free-kick goal in as many competitive games, leading the 67-year-old to compare his skills to those of David Beckham and Gareth Bale.
2 nd Unbelivable free kick goal from Eriksen this week shades of Beckham and Bale— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) January 31, 2015
Former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder Beckham is one of the greatest free-kick takers of all time, while one of ex-Tottenham star Bale’s main assets is his set-piece skill.
Eriksen is still not at the level of Beckham’s free-kick taking abilities and is yet to reach the heights of Madrid winger Bale, but he is certainly becoming one of the best in the Premier League.
Still only 22, there is a long way to go for Eriksen before he becomes one of the true greats of European football, but his performances both at Ajax and at Tottenham are certainly suggestive of a player who is set to take the world by storm sooner rather than later.
