Aston Villa-owned Gary Gardner missed Nottingham Forest’s Championship clash against Millwall due to a sickness bug.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner has revealed on social networking site Twitter the reason why he did not feature against Millwall.

The 22-year-old joined the Championship outfit on loan from Premier League club Aston Villa last month for the rest of the season.

Gardner has made three appearances for Forest so far and was expected to play against Millwall at the City Ground on Saturday.

However, the youngster did not even make the substitutes’ bench for the Championship clash. Prior to kickoff, Gardner took to Twitter to explain why he could not take part.

Gardner was clearly disappointed to have missed out and was cheering Forest on against Millwall, but in vain.

Ricardo Fuller’s goal in the 83rd minute proved to be the difference between the two teams at City Ground, as Forest went down 1-0.

The result leaves Stuart Pearce’s Forest side 12th in the Championship table with 34 points from 28 matches, while Millwall remain third from bottom with 27 points.
