Crystal Palace today confirmed the signing of Lille defender Pape Souare.
Reports from the Daily Mail earlier in the week suggested that Lille left back Pape Souare would be making a move to Crystal Palace, and now the Eagles have confirmed the deal on their official website.
Souare, who recently played in the Africa Cup of Nations for Senegal, joins Palace on a three-and-a-half year contract ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old left back figures to be a key part of Alan Pardew's defence for the Eagles, and joins other recent signings Yaya Sanogo, Jordon Mutch and Shola Ameobi at Selhurst Park.
Palace only officially announced the deal today, though chairman Steve Parish confirmed that the defender would be joining the club on Friday, meaning supporters have been reacting over the weekend.
Fans were delighted to have landed another player, especially in a position of need given that Palace have rarely been able to call upon a natural left back.
Right footed Joel Ward and Martin Kelly have filled in on the left side this season, but now Pardew can call upon a natural left footed - much to the pleasure of Palace fans.
Here are some reactions of Palace fans on Twitter to Souare's signing...
