Celtic 2-0 Rangers: Ronny Deila’s side through to League Cup final

Celtic ease past Old Firm rivals Rangers 2-0 to reach the final of the Scottish League Cup.

Celtic have book their place in the final of the Scottish League Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Rangers.

The defending Scottish Premiership champions headed into the semi-final tie at Hamden Park in Glasgow as favourites and deservedly won the Old Firm derby.

The Bhoys took the lead as early as the 10th minute when Leigh Griffiths headed home Kris Commons’s delivery from close range.

Commons himself tried his luck from distance just a minute later, but he could not keep his shot on target.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder did not have to wait long to etch his name on the scoresheet, though, as he found the target from outside the Rangers penalty box in the 31st minute.

Virgil van Dijk, Stefan Johansen and Griffiths had chances to extend Celtic’s lead in the first half, and the Premiership giants continued to dominate the match as the second half progressed.

Griffiths had a good chance, before James Forrest tried his luck in the 78th minute but in vain.
