The validity of the rumour is questionable, with the Mirror seemingly having since deleted the report. The rumour was certainly published in the first instance, though, and there would be a clear winner should it be pushed through.
You never know with the transfer window - but this particular rumour appears strange to say the least.
West Ham, with a superb set of summer signings, are enjoying one of their finest campaigns in recent history. And Enner Valencia has certainly been a part of that.
The Hammers man may have dipped in form of late but his presence is often good enough simply to boost the form of others. Indeed, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho know they have to be at their peak if they want to remain in West Ham's starting XI. If not, Valencia is waiting in the wings.
Both Carroll and Sakho have endured frustrating spells out injured this term, meanwhile, adding to Valencia's importance at Upton Park.
In short, it'd be crazy to sell up. Especially if, in return, West Ham would be getting a Chelsea striker who doesn't seem capable of playing more than once every full moon. The Chelsea man's quality in front of goal is undeniable. But so is his inability to stay fit.
So far this Premier League season, Remy has turned out nine times - but that has equated to just 186 minutes.
Only Kurt Zouma and Mohamed Salah have played less.
