Arsenal strengthened their defensive department this week, with the arrival of Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista. The player arrived at the club in midweek with Joel Campbell heading the other way on loan for the season.
In his career in Spain he has had to face some of the best players in the world. The likes of Diego Costa, Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have all faced the pacey centre-back.
But even before he headed to Europe he came up against some of the best during his time in Brazil - as these pictures show.
The snaps are of Gabriel facing off against the original Ronaldo during the latter stages of his career. The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan front man scored 352 goals in his club career, including 35 in two seasons at Corinthians, his final two seasons at the club.
It was here that he faced Gabriel. The Arsenal newbie was playing for Vitoria in August 2010 when he faced Ronaldo.
It was a game Vitoria lost 2-1 with goals from Iarley and Tottenham midfielder Paulinho doing the damage - so no goal from Ronaldo.
But it just shows that Gabriel has been mixing it with the best for a little while now.
