Liverpool's Lucas Leiva highlights West Ham duo but says Hammers have many threats

Liverpool's Brazilian midfielder has been speaking about West Ham United's impressive playing squad.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been speaking to the Reds’ official website ahead of his side’s Premier League match against West Ham United.

The two sides go head-to-head this afternoon in a match that could play a significant part in the final league standings, given how close the clubs currently are.

Just one point and one place separates the duo and the latest encounter is sure to be a tightly-contested affair.

West Ham have impressed this season with a number of their players performing above and beyond to get them where they are, and Liverpool’s Brazilian has hinted that paying attention to only their star players will not be enough.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Lucas said, “With Andy (Carroll) back, there is a threat in the air, but they have a lot of players that can play.

“Stewart Downing is in a very good moment, as are other players.”

West Ham are currently seventh in the table with the likes of Alex Song, Cheikhou Kouyate, Carl Jenkinson and Diafra Sakho all impressing, meaning Liverpool must ensure they deal with every single Hammers player and not just ex-Liverpool men Carroll and Downing.

One thing is certain: Whoever wins this encounter will have a huge confidence boost heading into the final few months of the campaign.
