Liverpool morning update: Early team news; Sterling and Henderson on confidence

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool take on West Ham United this afternoon with both sides fighting for a European spot.

Just one point and one place separates them in the Premier League table and this match really could go either way given the impressive form of both sides in recent times.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Daniel Sturridge is back for the Reds after months spent on the side-lines but defender Mamadou Sakho is a doubt for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

West Ham may be able to call on the previously injured trio Carl Jenkinson, Alex Song and James Tomkins.

In other news, Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling have both been speaking to the club’s official website about the Reds’ recent form.

“Over the last couple of months, we feel that we have been back to the way we know we can play,” Henderson is quoted as saying.

Sterling added, “You can see the confidence is slowly but surely getting back and we’re playing some really good football.”

Liverpool may have narrowly lost to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semi-final but they still have much to play for, including a fine league finish, the FA Cup and the Europa League, which kicks off again next month.
