The father of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has been speaking to Danish newspaper BT.
The Spurs play-maker continues to have an outstanding season for his club but Eriksen senior has been talking about why the 22-year-old does not always sparkle on international duty.
Eriksen is scoring for fun at club level right now, but at senior level he has netted just five times in 47 appearances for Denmark.
So what does his father Thomas Eriksen have to say about his form?
“I do not feel he feels any pressure with the national team,” Eriksen senior said. “But the national team is different.
“There are often better players in a club team and the national team only meets once in a while, so they may not understand completely what the idea is that Christian would like to do.”
Eriksen’s Tottenham teammates certainly understand what he wants to do and are benefiting from a player who is emerging as one of the most exciting talents in Europe.
The Dane has been around for so long that it is easy to forget just how young he is. But he is now blossoming into a consistent threat who could ultimately become the catalyst for a very successful Tottenham team of the future.
