This is how Star Wars: Battle Pod was made

Star Wars Battle Pod Making Of Vid 1

A new making-of video looks at how the Star Wars: Battle Pod arcade machine was created.

I remember hitting up my local arcade as a kid, sitting in those bulky 'simulators' that make you feel like you were sitting in the cockpit of a fighter jet, or in the driver's seat of a sports car. I always wished I could have one in my home, and the new Star Wars: Battle Pod is bringing back those feelings, tenfold.

Star Wars: Battle Pod is a new arcade machine that's been developed by Bandai Namco, and was first revealed during New York Comic-Con in October last year. It launched last week, and a new video showing the simulator's creation process has been released.

Battle Pod is a single-seat vehicle combat simulator, complete with curved screen, flight stick, and throttle, which allows players to fly a Snowspeeder on Hoth, or an X-Wing on Yavin, among other levels.

The seat sends out low-frequency vibrations to give a feeling of impact and explosions, along with fans that simulate the feeling of acceleration, plus there is 5.1 surround sound to deliver all those authentic Star Wars sounds.

Take a look at the short video below on how Battle Pod was created, and then hope that one is in an arcade near you.
