The 22-year-old Spurs star who has filled the Gareth Bale void at the club

Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen has become the man for the big moment.

Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen has become the club's big moment player, after stepping up his role for the side this campaign.

Eriksen is now Spurs's talisman and his two goals in midweek sum up just how vital to the team he is.

The Dane scored both Tottenham's goals in their match against Sheffield United to put them into the final of the Capital One Cup and he is becoming a reliable figure on the big occasion.

Spurs had looked like being the victims of a major cup upset against the Blades, but Eriksen's composure when the pivotal moment came sent them into the final.

Tottenham had seen a 2-0 aggregate lead evaporate in the closing stages of the match, but Eriksen popped up to notch a wonderful goal to send them through.

It is not the first time that the 22-year-old has rescued his team this season, either. Eriksen's eight Premier League goals this term have won the side 13 points and Spurs certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the top four without him.

Not since the days of Gareth Bale have Spurs had someone this important to their team and he looks set to be the man Mauricio Pochettino builds around for years to come.

At 22, Eriksen still has plenty of time to develop, but the fact that he has already stepped up shows how impressive his attitude and ability is and Spurs will feel very fortunate to have a player of his quality in their set-up.
