Celtic are reportedly hoping a specific deal will land them Stuart Armstrong from Dundee United.
The Daily Record has reported that Celtic are set to take a gamble over signing Stuart Armstrong from Dundee United.
Celtic have already seen an offer for the 22-year-old midfielder knocked back as it wasn’t close to United’s valuation.
They consider Armstrong to be worth in the region of £2.5 million, which is half a million more than Celtic are thought to be willing to pay.
The gamble, in relation to the Monday transfer deadline, comes with the Record suggesting Celtic are hoping United will accept a £2 million deal, with add-ons which will take the cost of the deal up towards what United consider him to be worth.
The winger would be a good capture for the Bhoys if they can pull off a deal, because it would give Ronny Deila another option to use in a wide area over the second half of the season.
He can inject real pace and energy into the club’s midfield and has the ability to put defenders onto the back foot.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that United are holding out for top price.
