The Belgian defender looks set to be leaving United after five years.
It was reported earlier in the week by the Daily Mail that Belgian Pro League outfits KV Mechelen and Sporting Lokeren were discussing a deal for the player. Now it is reported by Voetbal Nieuws that it is Lokeren who have won the race for the player.
They report that Vermijl will be undergoing a medical at the club this afternoon, as they look to replace Danish defender Alexander Scholz, who joined league rivals Standard Liege earlier this month.
The Belgian cup holders are currently eighth in the Pro League and in danger of missing out on the top six Championship play-off at this current rate.
Vermijl is now 23-years-old and the time for him to leave the club has certainly come. During his five years at Old Trafford he has played just two league cup games for United, although he did enjoy a decent season on loan at NEC Nijmegen of the Eredivisie in 2013-14.
But he had not featured in a United team since the thrashing against MK Dons and his United career seemed over. So this is a good move for the player, who United will no doubt wish all the best in his future career.
