The Libyan international is a former Manchester City youth team player.
Real Sociedad are being linked with a move for Brescia midfielder Ahmad Benali. Tutto Mercato Web are reporting that the Libyan international has been offered a pre-contract agreement with the La Liga side, as former Everton boss David Moyes is reportedly a big fan of the player.
But if the Basque side are to bring him in, the former Manchester United boss would be beating one of his former teams to a reported transfer target.
It was reported by The Mirror earlier in the month that Everton were interested on signing the player. Benali's current club Brescia runs out at the end of the season and The Mirror report that his Italian club are on the brink of financial disaster.
With that in mind Everton are said to be hoping to sign the player, who has also been linked with Celtic by the Daily Record.
Moyes of course spent nine years as the manager of Everton, but there would be no sense of past loyalty if Moyes could beat his former team to the signing of this talented 22-year-old.
Benali was born and raised in Manchester. He spent 11 years on the books of Manchester City, spending an unhappy month on loan at Rochdale but he has built an excellent reputation in Italian football with his performances in Serie B.
