Chelsea will be on a high after securing their place in the League Cup final while Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City have had a full week to mull over losing to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
In the race for fourth place there are only five points separating Manchester United in fifth and Liverpool in eighth place, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United all battling for positions in between them.
Hull City, Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City all have opportunities to climb out of the bottom three with the Foxes bottom of the table but only three points away from 17th place.
It will also be an important weekend for Newcastle United, facing their first game in charge with John Carver appointed as boss until the end of the season. The Magpies are currently just two points away from the top half of the table.
