Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has said in the Daily Mail that Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen makes the game look easy.
Keown purred over the Spurs midfielder as part of an online question and answer session for the paper and tackled a question directed at him after the Dane produced a brace to help Spurs into the League Cup final against Chelsea.
“He’s such a calm player. You could see that with his second goal last night,” said Keown.
“He waited for a split second longer for the ball to run across his body and that makes it look so much easier than it is. As he lets it roll across the goal becomes bigger and it looks easy.”
Eriksen has made a useful habit of scoring late goals for Tottenham this season, as he shows why he’s arguably the team’s best player.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino will be stressing the need for his side to see off games earlier, rather than leaving things late and relying on an attacking player converting a late chance.
For Eriksen, he has to try and use his current form to his advantage.
He’s becoming a real threat which means opposition sides are going to be looking at various ways to mute his influence and keep him out of big games.
If he can stay effective in the face of such tactics, reinventing himself over the rest of the season, there’s no reason why he can’t guide Tottenham to a high league finish.
Keown feels one of his best qualities is the way he makes things look easy under pressure. Tottenham’s job is to create s platform for him to use where he’s not under any.
