Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has told the club’s website the momentum created by beating Sheffield United in the League Cup can benefit the club.
Spurs battled their way into the League Cup final earlier this week thanks to a late Christian Eriksen goal and Kane has stressed the importance of using the positive energy to their advantage in the Premier League.
“It’s going to be a tough game (against West Brom). We’re going to enjoy this moment now but we know we’re back on it on Saturday,” said the striker.
“We’ve got an important game so we want to take this momentum and push on up the league.”
The result earlier this week was significant because it came after a disappointing defeat at the hands of Leicester in the FA Cup.
One of Tottenham’s main problems this season has been consistency, but the side now has a chance to put together a good run of results which will put the team in a stronger position in terms of attacking the top four.
Mauricio Pochettino should be playing on the positive frames of mind his players will be in, looking to use that to the team’s advantage.
Spurs can start the game against West Brom quickly, showing plenty of energy as they press and look for an early mistake, which could allow them to get ahead.
The challenge comes if Tottenham concede early and the momentum is lost. In that case the boss, Kane and other key players need to step up and show the same qualities they did during the important cup game on Wednesday.
