Former Leeds United defender Stephen Warnock believes that Jason Pearce will be a 'big loss' to the Whites.
Pearce completed a move to Wigan Athletic earlier today and Warnock took to social media site Twitter to give his ex-teammate his best wishes.
Warnock, who has also left Leeds in the January transfer window to join Derby County, had a good relationship with the centre-back at Elland Road and he believes that his old team have made a mistake by letting him go.
Congratulations to @jpearce05 on his move to Wigan! Will be a big plus for Wigan and a big loss to Leeds. Great player and a great guy.— Stephen Warnock (@StephenWarnock3) January 30, 2015
By selling Pearce and Warnock, Leeds have relinquished a lot of their Championship experience and it is a big risk from manager Neil Redfearn, considering the situation the club are in.
The Whites are in the thick of a relegation battle, meaning most bosses would have been determined to keep their experienced heads around, but Redfearn's approach has been different.
He seems to be entrusting the youth and a sprinkling of new additions to get Leeds out of the mess they are currently in and it is a gamble that he simply cannot afford to get wrong.
Leeds are only five points above the relegation zone in the Championship and if their January alterations to the squad do not have the desired impact it could have dire consequences.
