The save was made in the 2013 Copa del Rey final when Courtois was at Atletico Madrid and Ozil at Real Madrid.
Chelsea fans have recently enjoyed the advantages of having Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at their service. The stopper spent the first three years of his Chelsea career out on loan at Atletico Madrid - where he earned a reputation as one of the best young keepers in the world.
In the recent Capital One Cup semi-final tie against Liverpool he was tremendous. He has often proved himself to be adept at one on one situations and as an excellent shot-stopper, not to mention his trademark composure and commanding presence.
But when it comes to his favourite ever save, there is one that sticks out in his mind - one that prevented a now Arsenal player.
Courtois conducted a question and answer session for the UEFA Champions League yesterday, during which he was asked what the favourite save of his career so far was.
His response? The one which denied now Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil in the 2013 Copa del Rey final.
Courtois earned the man of the match award for his performance in the tie, as Atletico Madrid beat city rivals Real 2-1 after extra time. Goals from Diego Costa and Joao Miranda saw them to victory, after Cristiano Ronaldo had given Real the lead.
But Courtois made an incredible save from Ozil in extra time with the score at 2-1 which prevented the game from going into extra time.
Of course Ozil is now at Arsenal, that strike which was excellently saved by a sprawling Courtois proved to be one of Ozil's final actions as a Real Madrid player before agreeing a move to Arsenal the following season.
So when the two meet again, the Chelsea keeper will undoubtedly try to remind the German playmaker of this memorable moment.
