According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United will offer former Manchester City defender Sadik El Fitouri an 18-month contract after impressing during a trial period with the club.
The 20-year-old right back, who was released by City in the summer, joined Salford in December and impressed the Red Devils staff during a game between United’s Under-21s and first-team fringe players.
He has continued to impress in training and in games and the latest report by the Daily Mail suggest he has done enough to earn an 18-month deal with the 20-time Premier League champions.
Earlier in January, the Daily Mail reported of how the youngster had signed up with Salford City and despite playing just the one game was quickly recommended by Paul Scholes and Phil Neville to United to take a look.
How is El Fitouri likely to be used by United?
At 20, he is no up and coming prospect and plenty of younger defenders have been given the chance by Louis van Gaal to impress in the first team this season.
In that case, it may not be too far off the mark to speculate the former City prospect has been brought into Old Trafford with the immediate potential to step up into the senior squad if called upon.
Nevertheless, at least until the end of the season, it’s likely the youngster will be used heavily in the Under-21 squad until he gets to grips with his new teammates on a more permanent basis.
