Liverpool morning round-up: Mignolet wants reaction, Martinez wants Serie A move

A round up of news stories this morning related to Liverpool.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has told the Daily Star that the club’s defeat to Chelsea will spur the side on.

Liverpool were narrowly beaten in the League Cup semi-final against Chelsea earlier this week.

The Belgian has also claimed there is a strong desire within the current core of younger players to win trophies at the club.

The Daily Star has also reported that Jackson Martinez is unlikely to be moving to the club.

The FC Porto striker has been claimed as a target for Liverpool, as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options.

However, he would reportedly prefer a move to go and play Serie A football.

ESPN has suggested that Mario Balotelli’s time at Liverpool could be coming to an end.

The Italian striker has struggled to settle down and find his best form at the club following a £16 million move from AC Milan last summer.

He’s still to score his first goal in Premier League football though he did get off the mark in the Champions League earlier this season.
