Liverpool's training session today was pictured and posted online but there was one very noticeable absentee. French international defender Mamadou Sakho was not in action. However he has now moved to declare just why he was not present for the session.
Sakho has a sore back, which he suffered in the League Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
He has wrote both on Twitter and his official website that he has a minor problem and will be back in action tomorrow for the club.
He wrote on his official site MamadouSakho.fr:
"It has been few days that I have felt a tension in my back, the pain got bigger and more intense during the last match. I’m currently receiving treatment but nothing alarming, I will be able to join the group tomorrow."
Liverpool will certainly be hoping that Sakho is back fit in time for the weekend. He has recently been in good form as part of a Liverpool back three along with Martin Skrtel and midfield convert Emre Can.
He has not always been popular among the Liverpool faithful. At times he has often underperformed and looked clumsy at the back.
However his form recently has been much improved. Against the likes of Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll of West Ham Liverpool will need to have the physical presence of Sakho available at Anfield.
So it is good to hear he predicts such a speedy recovery.
