Ledley King sends message to Tottenham fans after semi-final win

Ex Spurs defender wants a repeat of the club's 2008 final win.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King has urged the club to emulate their 2008 League Cup winning side.

Spurs progressed to the final after a nervous semi-final against Sheffield United, which was only settled by a late Christian Eriksen goal.

Retired ex-captain King sent a message to fans via Twitter congratulating his old side on their victory.

The last time Spurs won the a trophy it was against the Blues, with a 2-1 win over Avram Grant's side, months before Chelsea also went onto lose the Champions League final against Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho will be determined to land his first trophy since rejoining Chelsea in 2013, but certainly will not get an easy ride from Tottenham.

Spurs will go into the game full of confidence thanks to their stunning 5-3 win earlier this year, and the March 1 final date promises to be an unmissable contest for fans of both teams and neutrals.

If Christian Eriksen can produce a moment of magic from a set piece as he did last night, it could go down as the best goal in the new Wembley since it opened.
