Yann M’Vila looks to be on his way out of Inter, with England in his sights.
The agent of Yann M’Vila told SportMediaset his client is drawn to the idea of a future in the Premier League despite attracting interest from Torino.
Once hailed as the ‘next Makelele’, M’Vila’s career has been in a downward spiral since being banned from the French national side and leaving Rennes for Russia.
A crucial component for Rennes after coming up through the youth ranks with the Brittany-based outfit, the midfielder always looked to be set for a bright future.
Instead, M’Vila’s story has developed into something a cautionary tale down the years. A surprise move to Rubin Kazan after his suspension from international football was just the start.
The Frenchman was a shadow of the player who had held the promise of becoming one of Europe’s best midfielders, drawing the ire of Rubin boss Rinat Bilyaletdinov.
A turbulent 18 months in Russia at last came to an end in the summer when he joined Inter on season-long loan with the option to make the deal permanent in June.
M’Vila had finally made his way to a giant of the game, albeit one in a rebuilding stage after Massimo Moratti stopped investing and subsequently sold the club to Erik Thohir.
Nonetheless, Inter looked an excellent opportunity for M’Vila to get back on track. It never happened. The Frenchman has struggled for minutes under both Walter Mazzarri and his replacement, Roberto Mancini.
With only eight Nerazzurri appearances under his belt, M’Vila is now back on the market. The arrival of Marcelo Brozovic at Inter has only served to expedite his San Siro departure.
M’Vila has been dropped from Inter’s squad list and with his future now in the balance, agent Fabrizio Ferrari has said the Premier League is in his client’s sights.
Ferrari told SportMediaset: “There hasn’t been an official request, even though Inter and Torino talked about it when the lad was still with the Nerazzurri.
“I think Torino would be a fantastic destination, but he’s got the Premier League in his mind now and I don’t know if Torino are still interested.”
Any deal for M’Vila would likely have to involve Rubin Kazan, as the Frenchman is tied to Inter only on loan.
Whether QPR or West Brom will ultimately act on their reported interest remains to be seen, as signing M’Vila at this point would be a risk of sorts considering his recent history.
