Ex-Chelsea man Fernando Torres sets incredible record with early goal

The former Liverpool and Blues man scored against Barcelona after 38 seconds; he has now scored all three of his shots since rejoining Atletico Madrid.

Former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is flourishing since returning to Atletico Madrid and scored in his side’s 3-2 defeat to Barcelona last night.

After netting in the first minute of both halves against Real Madrid in the previous round of the Copa del Rey, the Spain international netted with this clinical strike after only 38 seconds of the game at the Vicente Calderon last night.

Although the Catalan side came back to win the game 3-2 in the capital and eliminate Atletico, Torres set an incredible record with his strike.

Not only have all three of his goals since rejoining his boyhood club been in the first minute of their respective halves, but they are the only shots that Torres has attempted so far.

Three shots, three goals and a 100 per cent strike rate; Chelsea fans must be scratching their heads.

Torres has Mario Mandzukic for competition in Diego Simeone’s side but is pushing for regular inclusion for Atletico.

The Spaniard, who is on loan from AC Milan, struggled at Chelsea and was heavily criticised after sub-par performances only heralded 20 Premier League goals in 110 games in West London.
