Ronny Deila on dream scenario in Celtic's match against Rangers

Celtic take on Rangers in the League Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has told the club's official website that he is simply concerned about progressing when his side take on Rangers this weekend.

Bhoys supporters are hoping to see their Glasgow neighbours put to the sword, but Deila just wants to make it through.

He says that although his side go into the game as heavy favourites to win, anything can happen in cup competition and he just wants to avoid an upset.

“In the cup everything is possible and it’s just one game," he said. "Everybody is dreaming of a fantastic result but the only thing I’m dreaming of is to win and that’s what is in the players’ minds as well because we want to play the final here."

Despite Deila's caution, any result other than a Celtic win would be a huge surprise given Rangers' struggles this season.

The Light Blues have been poor in the Scottish Championship and they face their rivals well short of confidence.

However, there is sure to be added spice to the fixture, considering how long it has been since the two sides last met, and Rangers will be hoping to feed off the atmosphere and cause a shock.

Doing so will be a tough ask though as Celtic have made no secret of their desire to win the treble this campaign, and successfully booking their spot in the League Cup final would keep their hopes alive.
