Blizzard to nerf Hearthstone’s Undertaker card

HearthStone Stranglethorn

Overpowered, low mana card being adjusted to make it easier to deal with.

Blizzard has announced that one of Hearthstone’s most powerful one mana cards is to be nerfed with an upcoming patch.

The card in question is the Undertaker which although starting out as a pretty average 1/2 comes with an ability that grants it plus one to attack and health whenever a minion with the Deathrattle trait is brought into play. Combined this with the coin and a Deathrattle minion on turn one and the Undertaker is buffed up to 2/3 which added to the stats of the other minion in play becomes very hard to counter.

To even out the Undertaker’s power, Blizzard will remove the health gain provided by the card, having it instead just getting an attack bonus when a player summons a Deathrattle miion.

“Undertaker was frustrating to play against. It often gained both Attack and Health stats significantly above those of other inexpensive minions very early in the game,” write Blizzard. “With this change, we expect Undertaker will still be better than other 1-Mana minions when played in a deck with a Deathrattle theme, but more likely to die in combat against other minions.”

Once the Undertaker-nerfing update is in place, players who own a golden version of the card will be able to disenchant it for its full dust cost.
