EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the game is set to arrive before Christmas 2015, and that it will be "aligned with" the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens movie due to screen on 18th December.
General universe themes, characters, and items from The Force Awakens are said to be shared by Battlefront, but it won't be directly based on the movie. DICE has already said the game will see players venturing to well-known Star Wars locales such as Hoth and Endor, with AT-ATs and speeder bikes being just some of the vehicles present.
Jorgensen said that more info on Battlefront is expected to be revealed by DICE in the coming months, and Battlefront's launch will be a "very large activity" for EA on the whole - coming on par with the company's huge Battlefield series of games.
Speaking about Battlefront Jorgensen said, "we're extremely excited about that," continuing with, "We think there's huge potential for that title. More to come in the next couple of months on that as more about the movie comes out as well as more about our title comes out. You should consider that a very large activity for us [this year] and a very large focus--similar to how we've thought about Battlefields in the past."
