Will Keane made his debut for Sheffield Wednesday last night, and picked up a battle scar to remember it by.
The Manchester United loanee was required to have stitches after the game after knocking his head during the contest, substituted off in the 75th minute.
He was unable to mark his first appearance for the Owls with a goal, but did show signs of promise in a 0-0 home draw with Birmingham City.
With a lack of service, Keane did not manage a single shot on goal, but was efficient in recording a 95 per cent pass completion rate.
He won two aerial duels and made one tackle, leading the line along with Atdhe Nutiu as they sought to break Birmingham's resolve.
Wednesday edged possession with 56 per cent, and managed nine shots to Birmingham's seven, but their record of just 21 goals in 27 games remains joint lowest in the Championship, level with bottom side Blackpool.
Despite this their impressive defence helped them secure a draw, and Wednesday sit as high as ninth in the Championship, two places and two points ahead of Birmingham.
Keane's performance gave a positive first impression to Owls fans, who had positive words to say about his display via Twitter:
