Report: QPR target Dani Osvaldo close to Juventus move

Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo is set to sign on loan for Juventus.

Italian international Osvaldo is currently on loan with Serie A rivals Internazionale, but a report in Calciomercato suggests that he is close to agreeing to sign for the Bianconeri.

Having been cast out of the Saints set-up after a training ground bust-up with Jose Fonte last term, the 29-year-old agreed a season-long switch to the San Siro. His time in Italy started well, but an on-pitch altercation with teammate Mauro Icardi has shown to his new team that he cannot remain there, and he has since been on the look-out for a new move.

It was reported earlier this week that Inter and Southampton had come to an agreement with Premier League side QPR for the transfer of the loan to Loftus Road until the end of the season, but Osvaldo himself was against the move. As stated by TMW, the misfit striker was waiting on a move to a bigger club than QPR, with the likes of Juventus and AC Milan referenced in the report.

With that deal delayed due to Osvaldo's wishes, it appears as if the clubs have since upped their attempts to find him a club, and the new Calciomercato report suggests that he may just get his transfer to Juve before the close of the window.

Although the Serie A champions were targeting Sassuolo forward Simone Zaza ahead of a January transfer, the reluctance to lose their key man has made Sassuolo reject any advances. With the transfer window now steadily coming to a close, the Bianconeri have been forced to look elsewhere, and Osvaldo is their second choice.

The report indicates that they are preparing to make firm advances for the striker before the close of the window, as a back-up plan if Zaza cannot be tempted to move to Turin.
